CBR 300R hit 101 mph this morning! And comparison to Ninja 300

Perfect conditions, nice cold weather in So Cal. I hit 101 mph indicated on a slight downgrade. It was the same downgrade where I hit 111 mph indicated on the Ninja 300 I once had. For comparison, the Ninja 300 got about 62 mpg and the CBR300r has been getting about 71 mpg over 1,500 miles.

There's roughly a 10 mph top speed advantage to the Ninja 300 and roughly 10 mpg advantage to the CBR300r. There's a better fuel range on the Ninja 300 (easily 60 miles) due to 4.5 gal tank. I've only got 3 gal useable on the CBR300. The mirrors on the CBR300 are much better (not even close) and the CBR300 suspension is more balanced for me. The Ninja would go faster and the suspension was never an issue, whereas the CBR won't hit that extra 10 mph on top but feels more comfy in general. The CBR does squirm but it is a slow squirm and very manageable, and more plush.

I paid OTD $4,299 for the CBR300r ABS and $4,300 OTD for the Ninja 300. For commuting the CBR300r is better for me since the handle bars and front fairing and mirrors are just about perfect for where I want to sit and look. The stock Ninja 300 perched me up too much and had me feeling like I was steering from the waist and I couldn't tuck behind the wind screen the way a sportbike should.

If Honda made a CBR450r single cylinder with just a bit bigger forks and frame to handle the extra weight, that'd be Goldie Locks's way hotter big sister for me. From my experience, a slow single is way more satisfying to abuse than a relatively slow twin. I think the control over the raw sound and torque of the single is more noticeable than controlling same for a comparable twin.

Hi everyone. Just picked up a 2012 CBR250R a few days ago. I have kind of a weird bike owning progression. Started on a 80's Yamaha 250 Cruiser, to a 03' Ninja 250, to an R6, then to a supermoto for a number of years. Now back to the sportbike scene as I plan on going on longer rides with my father who recently got back on a bike. Obviously have a lot of years on bikes and have owned more powerful models, but it's been awhile since the R6 so thought it would be smart to get comfortable on a sportbike again on a 250, and nonetheless I think they're a blast no matter their power output.

Bike is like new. Only 6900 miles on it. Got a steal buying at this time of year, only paid $1700. I do have a few questions for you guys that are much more familiar with these bikes...(I tried researching on my own but haven't found any spot on info)

-My bike has black wheels (it is the standard red/silver color scheme, non-ABS). From what I could find, this year/model/color did not come with factory black wheels. Is this correct? If so, mine must have been professionally powder-coated because they look/feel darn good

-In the lower RPM's, this seems to have a decent amount of vibration. I've been on a lot of bikes, this isn't a "something's loose" thing, just in general seems to be like this at lower revs. Is this normal for these? From my research and knowing 250's I have a hunch it is

-Again at lower RPM's, 1st-2nd has a bit of a clunk to it. Again, from research this sounds normal on these at lower RPM's, but I like to clarify with the experts (:

Excited about the new toy!

Radiator fan not working

Stucked in traffic and looked at the temperature guage it showed 6 bars and last one is blinking. But the fan still didn't kick in went to the honda service center they checked the Fan relay, fuse and also the fan by using direct connection from other battery and all three were ok but still the fan isn't working what could be the possible cause? M having doubt with the wiring and ECT sensor any lead will be much appreciated.

I have recently purchased a 2011 CBR250R from Padgett's Motorcycles in Batley, West Yorkshire UK. At the age of 71 i thought it was time to have a nice lightweight 250cc four stroke single cylinder bike. And the Honda CBR was the one that appealed to me more than the other similar bikes on the market. The bike is in lovely condition and has only 3'000 miles on the mileometer, but it came with a rather noisey none standard silencer (muffler) so i have bought a lightly used factory fit silencer from e,bay UK and that will be going onto the bike soon. I may have to also slightly increase the bar height as the clipon bars seem a bit on the low side for me. I am looking forward to enjoying the forum and getting advice and information about this very nice little Honda.

Does anybody have idea about a failing throttle position sensor,

Hi All.

I am going to look at purchasing a 2015 CBR 250R Repsol edition shortly.

After doing much research on the net, I noticed all the latest 250R Repsol editions end at 2013. Is there no 2015 Repsol 250??

I figure the pink slip will tell. Just asking to see if someone knows.

Thanks

Steve

Hi folks,

Joined to see if I could find more information about how to modify my CBR 150R. Unfortunately I'm stuck riding the 150R as it's the largest displacement allowed for public road use on the island. Anyway, I reckon there'd be some overlap in the processes for modding the two bikes and I've seen some cool mods posted here, so I'm hoping to pick the brains of some of the members.

My current bike is stock and a little worn looking, but while I was living in Thailand I had the Carburetor version setup like this:

Used it once to bring home wood for a doghouse once :grin2:

Hello all.

I've become the accidental owner of (amongst other things) three CBR250Rs in various states of disrepair.
One is a dismantled scrapper MC17. "Hurricane" plastics. I'm not sure what age it is. It's previous owner was given it to help mock up his Honda racer replica. There bits of it all over the shed.
One is a well used and slightly damaged Rothmans-liveried MC17. Plenty of miles on it - city miles...
The third is a really clean MC19 with very low milage. It was bought as the donor bike for the historic racer replica but it's far too nice to break. The problem is that it won't run. After testing and swearing, I've concluded that the ignition box is toast.

Anyway, I hope one of them is running next year. I might re-start work on the race replica after that (entropy permitting).

CB150 OEM Parts?

I'm trying to find a site that's selling CB 150 parts. I want to convert my CBR 150R to a street fighter / naked bike.
I reckon I could buy a CB 150 front end and install it.

Here in Bermuda, the largest displacement allowed on the road is 150cc and the CRB 150 actually exceeds the HP limit, but was grandfathered in because the Gov't didn't catch on until the Fuel Injection model had been available here for a couple years.

On my intro post you can see what my old Carb CBR 150R looked like. I want to go for more upright handlebars like those, but for that implementation I drilled the triple tree to add mounts for Moto style handlebars. Would like to avoid that this go around as the ignition had to be moved to accommodate and I'd like to keep the handlebar lock (for insurance purposes, I know it won't actually stop my bike from being stollen if they really want it)

Here's a pic for a reference

I'd like to know your thoughts in changing oil without changing the filter?
So the bikes oil change schedule is 12000km or 12 months.
But let's say you want to change the oil at 4000km if you drive quite abit.
In a nutshell only change filter at 12000km and oil every 4000km. What are your thoughts?

The reason I ask this is my trip out to the dealership is a long one and getting oil filter is tedious.

Safe riding all.

Back home in NZ now..... and this 2019 PCX 150 is my current ride.

As a motorcycle, it is not the ride that a sports bike like the CBR250/300 offers, but as a practical way of getting around this is fitting my needs just fine.

My 2013 Honda cbr250r engine shuts down on neutral. It starts good, but after preheating process, if I don't touch throttle, engine shuts down. I already changed engine plug and battery, but it didn't fix the problem. Please let me know how too fix it. Thank you.

i was on my way to dallas when my crankshaft locked up 2 months ago. went into a depression spell. had to register my shitbox chevy as a result just to have a ride. im just looking for opinions. i can try to rebuild the engine for 1k+ in tools and a new crankshaft or buy a used craigslist engine for 500+. but i heard the cbr300r had the same frame. so maybe i could get a tiny cc bump with the extra cost of engine + mounting brackets + exhaust + ecu. not sure if the pins on the wiring harness are different.

I own a CBR 250R Repsol since 2015. I've done several mods with my bike including keyless ignition, and love to handle/alter electronic circuits.
In short, I love to be the pulse guy.>:)
